The University of Louisville added a recruiting commitment Thursday morning from three-star Florida defensive end/outside linebacker Rashawn Shaw, who chose the Cardinals over about 20 other NCAA FBS offers.
Shaw, a 6-foot-3, 230-pound player for Fort Pierce Central High School, committed after a visit to U of L where he was accompanied by teammate Sharieff Rhaheed, a linebacker who is committed to Louisiana State.
Shaw is ranked the nation’s No. 18 weakside defensive end by Rivals.com and the No. 59 prospect in Florida. He is the No. 74 outside linebacker nationally, according to ESPN.com.
Shaw is Louisville’s 17th commitment in the 2014 class and its third this week, joining Texas running back Daniel Gresham, who visited U of L Wednesday, and South Carolina defensive back Zykiesis Cannon. U of L’s class is ranked No. 17 by 247Sports.com.
He’s U of L’s ninth commitment from Florida.
Shaw’s other offers included LSU, Arkansas, Boston College, Cincinnati, Iowa State, Illinois, Maryland, Mississippi State, Michigan State, Rutgers Tennessee and West Virginia.
